Job Description:
The Harvard Graduate School of Design (HGSD), as the preeminent design school, offers an exciting setting for interaction and the exchange of ideas through the combination of disciplines--architecture, landscape architecture, and urban planning and design--together with an emerging research program and a robust public program of lectures and exhibitions, creating a dynamic, intellectually creative environment. We are seeking an energetic, forward thinking, and experienced individual who will work as part of a team to support an ambitious fund raising agenda and program at the HGSD.

Reporting to the Director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving, the Assistant Director of Leadership Gifts is responsible for overseeing reunion and non-reunion solicitations of annual leadership gifts.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
Develops and implements strategies to sustain the current success, as well as future growth, of the annual giving program.
Develops and implements new strategies for building a strong leadership gift program (up to $100,000). The position is responsible for managing a portfolio of prospects capable of making leadership level gifts.
Manages prospects in varied relationship stages including: identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Must work both independently and with GSD faculty, staff, alumni, and University Development Office staff to research and identify prospects capable of making leadership level annual gifts to the GSD and identify capacity for future major gift qualification.
Collaborates with the Director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving, as well as Major Gift staff, to maintain a steady level of unrestricted support among alumni in reunion and non-reunion years.
Oversees assigned reunion class drives and is responsible for the development and management of class reunion gift committees. Recruits volunteers and solicits alumni in honor of their reunions. Working with class leaders, develops and implements class fundraising plans, as well as individual prospect strategies.
Drafts donor correspondence, contact reports, briefings, and communications.
Responsible for accurate prospect data integrity. Works closely with Database Administrator and Office Manager to ensure accurate maintenance of prospect records in Advance.
Travel expectations are required to conduct donor and prospect visits, as well as for event staffing.
Prepares key statistical and management reports as needed to monitor and expand leadership giving programs.
Collaborates closely with other Alumni Affairs and Development departments and performs other responsibilities upon request, as needed.

Qualification: College degree required; 5+ years of successful direct fundraising experience, preferably in reunion giving, leadership, or major gifts in higher education or in a cultural/design institution required.
