College Profile: Vardhman Mahavir Medical College was established at Safdarjung Hospital by the Government of India in November, 2001. Its inauguration was done by the then  Honourable Prime Minister Sh. Atal Bihari Vajpayee on  17th December, 2001 in presence of Sh.L.K.Advani, Sh. C. P. Thakur and Founder Principal Dr. Jagdish Prasad. The College building was dedicated to the Nation by the Vice President Sh. M. Hamid Ansari on 20th Nov. 2007 in the presence of Honourable Health Minister Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss. The first batch of MBBS students was admitted in February, 2002. Post-graduate courses (MD/MS) in clinical subjects were running at Safdarjung Hospital even before the establishment of VMMC. The (MD/MS) course in Pre and Para clinical subjects were started in year 2011. Over the period of time, the numbers of MD/MS seats have been increased. The College also is running super specialization (Mch/DM).

Qualifications:(Preference):
As per norms
Doctor of Medicine.
(i) A recognized MBBS degree qualification included in the First Schedule or Second
Schedule or Part II of the Third Schedule (other than licentiate qualifications) to the
Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 (102 of 1956). Holders of educational qualifications
included in Part I of the Third Schedule should also fulfil the conditions specified in
sub-section (3) of section 13 of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 (102 of 1956).(ii) Post-graduate degree in the concerned Specialty or Super-specialty mentioned in Section- A of Schedule VI.

(iii) At least three years’ teaching experience as Senior Resident or Tutor or Demonstrator or
Registrar in the concerned Specialty or Super-specialty in a recognized teaching
institution after obtaining the first Post-graduate degree.

(iv) | The candidate must possess the requisite qualification as on or before the date of Walk-in-
interview.

NOTE:

1. Doctorate of Medicine (D.M.) or Magister Chirurgiae (M.Ch.) qualification of three
years’ duration shall be counted towards requirement of teaching experience in the
concemed broad speciality.

2. Doctorate of Medicine (D.M.) or Magister Chirugiae (M.Ch.) of five years’ duration shall
be taken as three years for completion of post graduate degree and the last two years of
the said Doctorate of Medicine (D.M.) or Magister Chirurgiae (M.Ch.) shall be counted
towards requirement of teaching experience.

3. For recruitment to the post of Assistant Professors (Immuno-haematology and Blood
Transfusion), D.M. (Immunology) or M.D. (Immuno-Haematology & Blood
Transfusion) or M.D. (Pathology or Bacteriology or Haematology) with at least three
years’ experience in a recognized teaching hospital in Immuno-haematology and Blood
Transfusion (Blood Banks) or in Pathology/Bacteriology/ Haematology with two years’
experience or special training in Immuno-haematology and Blood Transfusion (Blood
Bank) as a Lecturer or Tutor or Senior Resident or Demonstrator after the Post Graduate
Qualification in the speciality.
