About Institution:
Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University was established as a State University vide U.P. State Government notification no. (10)/(865)/15/(75)(85)/64 dated 23 November 1973. It has a rare distinction of taking birth through a powerful popular movement during early seventies in last century. This movement symbolized the hopes and aspirations of the masses of the region of Garhwal for the development through the instrument of higher education. The people of this remote mountainous region agitated for opening a University at a small but historic semi rural town of Srinagar. It was an expression of the quest for empowering their future generations for overcoming endemic economic and social backwardness, geographic and environmental constrains, re-assertion of cultural identity and harnessing of the local natural and human resources for development.
The University has subsequently been upgraded to Central University by an Act of Parliament i.e. the Central Universities Act 2009. The University has thus been entrusted with new responsibilities to guide its students, faculty and all other stakeholders to achieve excellence in academics and strive for all round development of students. Since its inception, the University has shown commitment towards regional and community development which is inherent in its teaching courses, research agenda and other outreach and extension initiatives. The synergy derived from circumstances of its genesis still inspires and promotes its vision for future. The University, nestled in the lap of Himalayan ranges in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, is a residential cum affiliating institution of higher learning. It has jurisdication over seven districts of Garhwal region of Uttarakhand.

Qualification:
As per the UGC / State Govenment / NCTE / Punjab University Norms.

- Project scientist - The Candidate should be M.Sc. in Geology/ Remote sensing and GIS/ Environment Science and a Ph.D. degree in the relevant subject. Should have published at least 3 to 5 research papers in Sci journals. 3 years' experience in Research and development in Academic / Industrial Institution or Science and Technology Organizations and Scientific activities evidenced by publication in Sci (Science Citation Index) journal. He/ She should be able to handle various mapping instruments such as Total Station and Differential Global Position System (DGPS), along with the working knowledge of GIS.
- Research associate - The candidates should be Ph.D., in Geology or environmental science / Remote sensing and GIS. He /She should have good knowledge of the Himalayan ecosystem, its evolution, and temporal-spatial variability as a function of geographical and altitudinal niches. He/ She should be able to handle various mapping instruments such as Total Station and Differential Global Position System (DGPS), along with the working knowledge of GIS. Understanding of plant ecology, distribution of plant community as a function of geomorphic entity (fluvial, glacial, glacio-fluvail and alluvial deposits) would be considered as added advantages. The candidate having good number of publication in SCI journals will be given preference.
- Project assistant - Master's Degree in Geology/ Remote sensing and GIS Applications/ Environmental Science. Candidates having Physics and math's in B.Sc. will be given preference
- Lab assistant - B.Sc. (physics, Maths, Geology). Candidates having Master's degree in Geology/ Remote sensing and GIS/ Environment Science may also apply. Knowledge of computer is essential.
Salary:
Project scientist - Rs. 67000/- +8 % HRA
Research associate - Rs. 49000/- +8% HRA
Project assistant - Rs. 31000 +8% HRA
Lab assistant - Rs. 20000 +8% HRA
