Job Description:
The laboratory of Professor John Badding in the Chemistry Department, at The Pennsylvania State University, seeks to fill an Assistant Research Professor position to perform calculations to investigate the reaction mechanism of nanothread formation from small aromatic molecules under pressure. The position requires a Ph.D. in the area of organic or computational chemistry as well as experience in solid-state chemistry and high-pressure chemistry. Applications should be submitted electronically and should include a cover letter and curriculum vitae, including an explanation of prior training, qualifications for this position, and a list of publications. Following a screening of these initial application materials, appropriate candidates will be contacted by email and asked to arrange for letters of recommendation to be sent so that they might be considered further. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with a possibility of refunding for additional years.
